Kinja'd!!!

Selling my wife’s car and it’s taking a little longer than expected. 2008 MINI Cooper S, 6 spd manual, sport pkg, around 65k miles, blah blah.

I’ve had it at $7500 and just lowered to $7200. KBB and NADA come in a tad lower, but I’m pricing at what the market is showing.

!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! Oh, and if you want to buy it....

Haha, well to be honest..that’s what I’m going for! Start high (but not too high) and wait for the counter offers.

Cold weather pack? I think you’re a touch high mostly because you have the least desirable wheel set of the S’s IMHO but not much. Has the blower been serviced?

It’s a $6500 car, $7999 on the dealers lot. They get more because they can offer financing, have overhead and do quite a bit of reconditioning. Above $5k is where people are rarely cash shopping.

Get that first number at 6...$6995 and take $6500. This is why people trade. Selling cars above $5k is hard.

That sounds like a decent price for the mileage, assuming it doesn't have body damage or anything like that. I was shopping regular mini coopers for my girlfriend a couple years ago and those were in the $6k range with similar mileage. Since you've got an S, I imagine that nets a bit more money in general.

You’re on the cusp. I think I would be a firm buyer at around 6k

Yes on cold weather. Agree on the wheels ¯\_()_/¯. Don’t believe so for blower (we’ve had it two years, previous owner could have).

60k or so is when they suggest servicing the blower specifically to check the oil levels ( http://new.minimania.com/How_to_Change_… ) those who are familiar with R53 mini’s will ask if it’s been done, others will go “OMG ITS SO CUTE BUY ME IT DAD”

From what I’ve understood about selling cars privately, unless you have something rare that some enthusiast is very excited about, blue book is WAY high. Edmunds is better.

Also, your ad lacks any detail. When was it serviced last and how frequently has it been serviced? Where? How are the consumables doing (tires, brakes, oil, blah blah blah)? How is the engine running? Any issues? Does it shift smoothly and engage all gears properly? Any problems starting? In the cold with a cold engine? Idles fine? How is the paint? Any chips or scratches? Take pictures.

Lift the bonnet and take a pic. Take a picture of the back of the car. Take a picture of inside the hatch. Take a picture of the sides of the car, your 3/4 angle is good, but you need profile. Both sides. The picture of the front seats is bad, too many shadows. Do you have receipts? Take pictures of those. Craigslist pictures are low resolution. You need to get closer to what you’re taking a picture of. The car should fill the whole frame. It’s not a fashion shoot, show me it’s teeth!

Ah well, it’s not a supercharged model anyway -Turbo R56, not an R53. Kinda thought you meant blower motor, haha. Have heard of problems with that.

Cripes I read the ad wrong I thought it was 2006, my fault, I think it’s priced pretty reasonably in that case, though many Mini people prefer the R53's vs R56's.

It’s an okay price, but I would take more pictures when there isn’t as much glare to replace what you have.

I would also take the fake Euro plate off for the pictures because I think so many people have a negative connotation associated with them.

I have an r53, I would say pretty NP. Mines an 02, had 92K when I bought it for 6K.
